Equality Act 2006 (2006 c 3)

The Act established the Equality and Human Rights Commission, merging the functions of the Commission for Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission, and the Disability Rights Commission. It sought to promote equality, eliminate discrimination, and protect human rights. The Act extended anti-discrimination provisions beyond gender, race, and disability to cover other grounds such as religion, sexual orientation, and age.
